چکیده

In the present investigation, antimicrobial activity of Catharanthus roseus (leaves and stem) was evaluated. The plant material extracted through maceration method results were recorded against different bacterial (Bacillus subtilis Pseudomonas flourescence) fungal (Aspergillus flavus Fusarium culmorum) strains. zones inhibition measured these strains compared with commercially available standard discs including ampicillin (10ug) B. subtilis, sulphomethoxazole (30ug) P. fluorescence, fuconazole (250mg/625ml) A. Ketoconazole F. culmorum. Maximum zone observed for methanol leaf extract (19 ± 2.08)a while, theminimum stem culmorum (5.33 0.57). Standard produced maximum 32.93 1.60 25.91±0.5. 33.21±0.5 ketoconazole 46.55±0.5.

The study was conducted to analyze the existence of bioactive phytochemicals extracts in green alga Scenedesmus dimorphus and their antimicrobial role. Various solvents such as methanol, ethanol, N-hegzane and diethylether were used for extraction. The extracts of of Scenedesmus dimorphus were tested against two Gram - positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis and Micrococcus luteus), a Gram - negat...

Introduction. Catharanthus roseus (L.) is used in some countries to treat diabetes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the hypoglycemic activity of extracts from the flower, leaf, stem, and root in normal and alloxan-induced diabetic mice. Methods. Roots, leaves, flowers, and stems were separated to obtain organic and aqueous extracts. The blood glucose lowering activity of these extracts wa...

Catharanthus roseus is well known for its pharmacological significance. The present study aims to determine the antifungal activity of Catharanthus roseus against various clinically significant fungal strains (Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium moniliforme). Assessment of antifungal activity of Catharanthus roseus was done by paper disc diffusion method. In thi...
متن کاملIn vitro interaction of certain antimicrobial agents in combination with plant extracts against some pathogenic bacterial strains
Today, the ongoing emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria and the infectious diseases caused by them are serious global problems[1]. Thus, there is an urgent need for novel antimicrobials and/or new approaches to combat these problems[2]. Antibiotics are one of the most important weapons in fighting bacterial infections and have greatly benefited the health-related quality of human life sin...
